Laura was born in Boone , North Carolina and raised in Jacksonville , Florida . In 1989, she completed an internship with a kitchen company, while pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of Florida College of Architecture. Upon graduating in 1991, she accepted a position as a designer at Kitchens, Etc. by Regency in Jacksonville Florida . During her eight years at Kitchens Etc., she completed numerous residential and commercial projects. Laura relocated to Tallahassee to attend graduate school at Florida State University , receiving a master degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Laura started as a designer at Tallahassee Kitchen Center in 2003.
